For dinner last night, we went to The Chophouse. Pretty exciting since I had never been before. I glanced over the menu before heading there, just to have a basic idea of what I would order. There was a special on a three course meal, but I didn't order it because it included dessert and I didn't even want to be tempted.
ADMISSION: I am NOT a lover of sweets, but I have a very hard time passing up crème brûlée. OF COURSE, crème brûlée was one of the options, so I avoided the temptation completely (which meant watching 3 of the 5 who did get dessert eat it...lol) and ordered a decaf coffee instead.
I was very proactive at dinner. I ordered a club soda with lime so it looked like a pretty drink to match the alcoholic ones that others ordered. I asked for olive oil and vinegar for my salad dressing and double checked to ensure there was no cheese or croutons on the salad. I ordered my steak to be made without butter, my baked potato plain, and my grilled asparagus to be made with olive oil instead of butter. They were very accommodating and everything was so delicious. I did add some olive oil and vinegar to the plain potato and had the waiter add fresh cracked black pepper to everything on my plate, just to spice it up a bit. Seriously the best steak I have EVER had.
We met some friends and family for brunch at Bob Evans today, and I warned the waitress that I was going to be "that lady at the table today." After she jokingly told me to get out (while pointing to the front door), I ordered the vegetable omelet with no butter or oil which came with a fruit bowl and dry toast. I asked her to hold the toast, but she brought it anyway (bless her heart, she admitted she was having a rough day). The omelet, however, was perfect. It was filled with spinach, tomatoes, and onions and topped with more fresh tomatoes. No butter. No oil. Just perfection.
Lunch, which was dinner for my dad and Gramsie, was Panera. I knew from the other day what to order, so I had the classic salad with chicken on it and an apple. It snowed a bit today (didn't stick, but was still freaking cold), so I was in hot tea mode. Their orange ginger mint tea is SO SO SO good.
I will say that eating out while on Whole30 has proven difficult but not impossible. I think because food allergies and intolerances have become fairly mainstream, it is more likely that restaurants will work with you to accommodate individual needs.
I was going to treat myself to aerial yoga tomorrow morning.
It's one of my most favorite things to do when I'm back home, but it's cold outside and it would require waking up early and going out INTO that cold to get there. BRRRRRRRR! I think I'll see what time I wake up naturally, and go from there. I refuse to force myself into the cold, but if my body gets up on its own and decides to go, I'll go with it. :) In the meantime, if you're in the Warren area, check out Jessica and her crew at Body Bliss Connection.
